Description:

Important: Please note this fishery is in NW Leicestershire, not the Peak District.

THIS RIVER CONTAINS NATIVE WHITE-CLAWED CRAYFISH A NATIONALLY THREATENED SPECIES. TO AVOID SPREADING CRAYFISH PLAGUE ENSURE YOUR TACKLE AND FOOTWEAR ARE THOROUGHLY CLEAN AND DRY BEFORE FISHING THIS BEAT. FELT-SOLED WADERS ARE NOT ALLOWED (AND UNNECESSARY) ON THIS BEAT.

How to get there: A 10-minute drive from either junction 22 of the M1 or junction 11 of the M42, Tuckers Holt is on the road leading south from Heather towards Shackerstone. Information and passport tokens are available from Ibstock Tackle and Gun,Ibstock Tackle & Gun, 61-63 Chapel Street, Ibstock, Leics. LE67 6HF (Tel. 01530 260901).

Parking: Park in the car park of the Tuckers Holt fishery

Token box: A token box will be installed in the car park at Tuckers Holt fishery shortly. Please leave tokens at Ibstock Tackle and Gun until then.

Access to the river: From the car park walk to around the lake to the left (facing the lake), and you will see the river.

Fishing: The fishing is between the weir at the upstream limit and the road bridge at the downstream limit, a length of about 1.3 km. Fishing is from the right bank (looking downstream) on the upstream section of the fishery, and the left bank on the downstream section a small brick footbridge marks the change in banks. This lowland river contains some good trout in addition to chub, dace, perch and pike. Grayling were re-introduced a few years ago, and we are interested to see if these show in catches.

Rod Limit: This beat is limited to two anglers at a time. Please go to another beat if two anglers are already fishing on you arrival.

Restrictions: Fly only, catch and release.
Trout season runs from 18th March to 7th October.
Grayling and coarse fish season runs from 16th June to 14th March
Peak Passport seasons may be shorter than the national seasons, allowing the angler to fish when the rivers are showing their full potential while allowing time for maintenance and improvement work.
