Description:
How to get there:
From Hartington take the B5054 west towards Warslow. After approx 1 miles, you will drop down a bank, the Manifold Inn pub will be on your left. Immediately after the pub is a left turn signposted for Alstonefield. Take this turn, the wooden gate of the parking area is on your right approx 50 yards up the road.
Parking:
Park your car immediately behind the gate upon entry.
Token box:
The box is attached to the side of the right hand gate post as you enter the parking
area.
Access to the river:
From the parking area a rough track leads back towards the road bridge, between a small oak on your left and a hawthorn on your right. Then take a sharp left down to the river bank. This gives access to the stretch downstream of the road bridge. For the upstream section access is easily available through the campsite.
Fishing:
Upstream of the road bridge fishing is on both banks up as far as the weir next to the wooden gate in the campsite boundary. Downstream fishing is on both banks, as far as the big pool in the first bend of the river and continues on the right hand bank until the boundary of the camp-site field. We know little about the fish population here. The downstream section in particular looks promising and fish have been seen on the rise. We will look forward to the catch returns!
Campsite Issues:
This beat is best avoided during holidays periods and busy weekends.
Rod Limit:
This beat is limited to one angler at a time. Please go to another beat if another
angler is already fishing on your arrival.
Restrictions:
Fly only, catch and release. Barbless hooks, size 10 maximum.
Trout season runs from 18th March to 7th October
Peak Passport seasons may be shorter than the national seasons, allowing the angler to fish when the rivers are showing their full potential while allowing time for maintenance and improvement work.
