Welcome to The Peak Passport Scheme 2011!
This is the scheme that brings you wild trout fishing on day ticket in the Peak District. There are a number of beats to choose from. This web-site provides you with all you need to know to find your beat, and go fishing!
The scheme made a great star last year, with 214 angler visits by the end of the trout season. Many recorded some excellent fishing, and caught some beautiful wild fish.
We are going ahead without the information booklet this season, as you should be able to find all of the necessary info on this web-site. This saves us the cost of producing the booklet, and you the cost of buying it!
Flyers about the scheme will still be available from our vendors, giving an introduction to the scheme and letting newcomers know where to find out more.
There will be some more beats for you all to try, and very promising they do look. Now that we are not limited by the information that was printed in our booklet, we are free to add new beats to the scheme throughout the season. So keep a eye out for new stretches of river to go and fish.
The beats are set in the wonderful surroundings of the Derbyshire and Staffordshire Peak District. All the beats are on private land, accessible only with permission of the landowner through the Peak Angling Passport Scheme. Do keep an eye on this website for the latest information.
The Trent Rivers Trust is working hard to protect and improve river habitat and water quality by working in partnership with landowners, farmers, statutory bodies, angling clubs and other organisations. The angling passport scheme is an important part of this work and the aims of the scheme are to bring income to areas where river habitat improvement works have been carried out or are planned, by providing access for anglers. By providing a sustainable income to farmers and landowners we hope it will help to protect the rivers for the future.
As these beats are on private property please remember that access is by kind permission of the landowner. The success of the scheme relies on trust, both on the part of the angler and the landowner.
Andrew Heath is the Trent Rivers Trust staff member responsible for organising the Peak Angling Passport scheme and environmental improvements on rivers in this part of the Peak District. Look out for him on the river bank and show him your tokens and licence, and he will give you the latest news on which beats are fishing well, flies and tactics.
